I see the worry on your face as well as other commenters have noticed. From being a small boy in the hospital many times, I didn't know other kids, so my friends were animals. Animals would come up to me just to say hello. I loved it. What I am trying to say is I love the way you are with Sherpa. I have cried when I got a new puppy, and cried harder when the time came. Both when I was a small boy and also now that I am an old man. I admire you Jamie, that you have so much care and love for Sherpa. It is a wonderful bond.

What a relief to know that if the tooth needs to come out, it can and anesthesia doesn’t preclude that.

I used to dry the egg shells (either leave them for a few days or if I was in a hurry, dry them in a low oven for a few mins) and grind them in my bullet blender until they were a powder and sprinkle that on my dog's food. That makes it more bio-available for the pup and cuts out any sharp edges completely.

I know what it is like to have a dog with issues as they get older and I know the journey of researching and going miles out of your normal routine to buy different foods and meds and different vet visits just to make every day easier and happier for your beloved pupper. So, THIS is a long, exciting and emotional day for you, JAMIE! A long car ride too, which, as a loyal viewer/follower in THE NETHERLANDS, has given me the opportunity to see a beautiful part of England! Good thing/job that you went to this specialist and how wonderful and good to hear now, AND SEEING FROM SHERPA HIMSELF, that SHERPA IS NOT A REAL OLD HUSKY AND THAT HE IS STILL IN VERY GOOD HEALTH!!! In my opinion, THIS is also thanks to YOUR good and loving caring, ditto attention, regular WALKING with HIM, and feeding HIM healthy food!!! KEEP IT THAT WAY, but of course I don't have to tell and/or advise YOU that!

Sedating, I think, is the word you're looking for instead of "putting him to sleep." She's an anaesthesiologist (anna-sthee-see-ol-o-jist). I'm glad his body is just making him sleepy because it's fighting an infection, that's reasurring! It's understandable to be worried. Sherpa isn't a puppy any more and aging is a rough kinda process for all of us. He's no spring chicken, but he doesn't have one paw in the grave yet, either.

He has great muscle tone. He is in great physical condition. He goes on walks, that many dogs his age couldn't do. He is attentive to his surroundings. He is sharply aware of you Jamie. He is happy. He is in the best big yard any dog would envy. He has a BFF in Key and Weirdo. He is a great dog and has years to look forward to. Jamie you didn't ramble. You are a relieved, excited and happy human Dad. 😂❤😂

Sherpa is a healthy senior dog. He is living his best life, loves his new "digs" with his lovely huge garden. I would do the same Jamie! I find dogs more loyal than human beings. My own life experience. They are loyal to the very end. I have had wonderful fur-babies. 3 in total spanning over 36 years...from a child to my days now. Sadly, I lost my last fur-baby "Rusty" in November 2022 to Pancreatitis. I had rescued him from our local shelter when he was 4 years old. He was an owner surrender. I had him for 7 1/2 years. I miss his little nails making that tapping sound on my floors. It is pretty silent in my house they days. But, I'm not ready to adopt another dog...for now. It takes a huge commitment, responsibility, & money. (Vet bills, food) I need a break for a bit. 36 years, having dogs is plenty. I might change my mind when I retire....Just need some time now. Great trip. Very informative. So encouraging. I know you must have been worried sick and now I hope that the anesthesiologist has put your mind at ease. Great news! I would however if this tooth acts up again have it removed after it clears up again so he does not have to continually have infections. Delighted she feels good she could to it. Also, not waiting a long time would be good because he gets older and coud get tougher. Just a thought but so happy he is good. Such a sweetie pie
